Exchange and SharePoint
Best Practices in Unified Data Protection Today
When: On Demand

Protection for Exchange data is easy. It has evolved over the years and is now fairly standard in the industry--terms like backup, recovery, and DR are well-known and common when referring to Exchange data.
SharePoint, on the other hand, is a newer player and a major shift from using a simple file storage system where a traditional backup and restore is "good enough." With SharePoint, organizations must actually manage the data proactively--no easy task considering the distribution and structure of the information it contains. It's imperative to do it right though, when it comes to compliance and eDiscovery.
In this webinar, we will explain the similarities and the differences in how Exchange and SharePoint look at data and explore how to best protect your data not just through a back up process, but through archiving. Learn how using a unifying architecture to hold Exchange and SharePoint data will enable success in meeting today's diverse yet critical needs, from backup to discovery.

Archiving Meets Retention Management
Hear an independent analyst describe the importance of marrying retention policies with content archiving initiatives
When: On Demand

You know the problems inherent in having a successful archiving solution:
- You have critical content in numerous, independent silos;
- Putting individual content items on legal hold is nearly impossible;
- But keeping all data is prohibitively expensive—and makes backup and disaster recovery extremely challenging.
What’s the solution? Join Featured Guest Brian W. Hill, Senior Analyst at Forrester Research as he describes the impact of convergence on content management, archiving, and retention policies.
You’ll hear about how first-generation archiving solutions tried to address the challenges of managing high-volume user-generated content, but created more problems than they solved. And you’ll learn what your options are in addressing these challenges in a cost-effective manner that won’t leave you high and dry on the eDiscovery front either.

Exchange Archiving: Avoid Journaling & Stubbing Traps and Stop the Domino Effect
When: On Demand

One of the functions of email archiving is to free up storage space on email servers. But unfortunately first-generation archiving methods of capturing and archiving the email information can cause significant problems. These solutions typically capture email and attachments from Exchange through journaling and replace them with a stub file or link. Stubbing frees up substantial disk space, but causes a new problem—slow and sluggish Exchange performance. And journaling only captures a subset of the information that is required by compliance regulations.
Register for this webinar, Exchange Archiving: Avoid Journaling & Stubbing Traps and Stop the Domino Effect, to learn:
- What stubbing is and why it isn't an optimal archiving solution
- How to relieve pressure on your Exchange Server infrastructure
- Why you need more than just journaling
- How to capture everything you need without compromising performance
- Determine what solution is right for your organization
Understanding your technology options upfront will reduce the IT risks that come with choosing a less-than-optimal solution. Register today!

Can IT and Legal Agree?
Figuring Out an Email Retention and Deletion Policy
When: On Demand

IT wants to archive email, and reaches out to legal for a policy. Legal recommends deleting all email after 30 days. IT says that won’t work because employees are free to create PSTs and presses legal for a retention policy.
A committee is formed, with legal, IT, records management, compliance, and others. The committee meets. Discussions ensue: Are all emails business records? If so, how long should they be retained for? Should non-business-related emails be filtered out? What about employee PSTs? And how does all this affect eDiscovery? The committee meets again. And again. Will it ever end?
Today many companies are struggling with how much email and other electronic documents should be saved and for how long. In this webinar, hear from industry leader Mark Diamond of Contoural and learn how to create an email retention policy that is technically feasible, what types of policies companies are implementing, and how the right retention and deletion strategy can help (and not hurt) litigation readiness. Hear real-world examples on both what works and the pitfalls to avoid.

How “Safe” is Your “Harbor”? Planning for the FRCP Rule 37(e)
When: On Demand

Inadvertent deletions of emails and other ESI by employees and contractors are a growing legal risk for companies. Those companies that can't or won't preserve and protect potentially responsive records for eDiscovery run the risk of huge fines and “negative inference” jury instructions. The new FRCP Rule 37(e) amendments provide protection for companies who accidently delete potentially responsive records. But, to make effective use of the safe harbor defense, a company must show “routine, good faith” in meeting their obligations for protecting potentially relevant records.
So what's required to demonstrate “good faith” in protecting ESI?
In this webinar, Attorney Tom Allman and William Tolson of Mimosa Systems will discuss:
- An effective “good faith” strategy to meet the Safe Harbor expectations
- Lessons learned from cases that applied - or rejected - Rule 37(e) since the Amendments
- Best practices which will enable you to document your processes and procedures
- Future trends and predictable court attitudes towards cutting-edge technology

Find out what's required to create and enforce an effective email archiving policy.
In this webinar, industry experts Bill Tolson and Mark Diamond of the consulting firm Contoural will discuss best practices for creating an email archiving policy that will both meet legal and regulatory requirements as well as benefit employee productivity.

Federal Rules of Civil Procedure 101: Ignorance of the Law Is No Excuse
When: On Demand

The cost of eDiscovery-related requirements as a result of civil litigation is soaring, and the odds that your organization will be impacted are on the rise.
- Gartner estimates that the average eDiscovery “event” costs $1.5 million.
- Forrester estimates that 75 percent of civil discoveries target a company's email system.
- Osterman Research estimates that 47 percent of companies have had to perform three or more searches of electronic records over the past 12 months for litigation.
Does your company understand the new Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) and where it falls short in being able to meet them? Ignorance of the new laws and inadequate technology are no defense. Shoddy preparedness can cost your company huge sums of money or even cause your company to cease to exist. Is your organization ready for the new FRCP?
Be sure to attend this webinar to learn about the new amendments to the FRCP from Randolph Kahn, an attorney and internationally recognized authority on the legal, compliance, risk management, retention, and policy issues of business information, information technology, electronic evidence, and records management.
